In a humanitarian gesture reflecting the deep fraternal ties and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's commitment to supporting the Palestinian people in their most difficult circumstances, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center its tireless efforts to alleviate the suffering of patients in the Gaza Strip. The Center recently announced its sponsorship of treatment for 42 cancer patients from Gaza, as part of a specialized medical project being implemented in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
The health crisis in Gaza is worsening
This initiative comes at a time when the health sector in Gaza is facing near-total collapse as a result of the ongoing events. Most hospitals are out of service, and specialized cancer treatment centers, such as the Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital, have ceased operations. Cancer patients in the Strip are suffering from shortages of medications and chemotherapy and radiotherapy sessions, putting their lives at constant risk. Therefore, the urgent Saudi intervention to save the lives of these stranded patients is of paramount importance.
Details of patients' arrival in Jordan
In this context, 30 cancer patients from Gaza recently arrived in Jordan and were immediately transferred to the King Hussein Cancer Center in Amman. Upon arrival, they underwent comprehensive and thorough medical examinations in preparation for beginning intensive treatment programs under the supervision of leading consultants and specialized medical teams. These patients join 12 others who arrived previously, bringing the total number of current beneficiaries of this project to 42 patients receiving comprehensive care.
Comprehensive care and international partnerships
The project, funded by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, covers not only medical treatment costs but also all living and logistical expenses for patients and their companions throughout their stay. The evacuation of patients was successfully carried out through high-level coordination and collaboration with the World Health Organization , and in close coordination with the Jordanian government and the Saudi Arabian Embassy in Amman, to ensure their safe and comfortable arrival.
An extension of the Saudi humanitarian role
It is worth noting that the center signed a joint cooperation agreement in 2024 with the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Center, aiming to accommodate and treat as many complex cases as possible who were denied treatment within Gaza. This initiative is part of a long series of Saudi aid efforts, which have included air and sea bridges and the public campaign through the “Sahem” platform, underscoring the Kingdom’s unwavering commitment to providing assistance to those affected and solidifying its position as a global beacon of humanitarian and relief work.
