As part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's ongoing humanitarian efforts to support the Palestinian people, the volunteer medical team from the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center achieved a new medical milestone in the Gaza Strip. The team successfully performed 50 advanced and specialized orthopedic surgeries at the Arab National Hospital in Gaza, contributing to saving the lives of many injured individuals and alleviating their suffering.
These operations were part of the volunteer medical project for orthopedic surgery implemented by the center during the period from December 5 to 27, 2025. The effort was not limited to surgical operations only, but extended to include providing medical, diagnostic and therapeutic services to 402 patients who visited the project's orthopedic clinic, where they were provided with the necessary care according to the highest medical standards available under the current circumstances.
This initiative is of paramount importance given the critical health conditions in the Gaza Strip, where the health sector faces immense challenges due to shortages of medical supplies and the strain on local staff. Orthopedic surgery is among the most urgent specialties in conflict zones, due to the nature of injuries that require delicate surgical interventions to prevent permanent disabilities and enable patients to regain mobility and resume their normal lives.
This project is an extension of Saudi Arabia's long history of support for the Palestinian cause, as the Kingdom is among the first countries to provide relief and medical aid. The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center serves as the Kingdom's humanitarian arm, utilizing its logistical and medical capabilities to operate air and sea bridges and deploy specialized medical teams who risk their lives on the ground to provide direct assistance.
The presence of Saudi medical teams at the Arab National Hospital reflects the Kingdom's unwavering commitment to standing with the Palestinian people in their plight and contributing effectively to alleviating the humanitarian crisis. These volunteer medical projects are a cornerstone of the center's strategy to strengthen the resilience of the Palestinian healthcare system and ensure the continued provision of medical services to the most vulnerable and needy groups.
