As part of its humanitarian efforts, the King Salman Relief Center's mobile clinic in Hajjah provided medical services to 355 beneficiaries, contributing to alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people.

As part of the ongoing humanitarian efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to support the brotherly Yemeni people, the mobile medical clinic of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center continued to provide its vital services in the Al-Deir area of Hiran District in Hajjah Governorate, Yemen. From January 21 to 27, the clinic successfully reached 355 beneficiaries, providing them with necessary healthcare amidst the difficult conditions prevailing in the region.

The services provided covered various essential medical specialties. The infectious disease clinic received 190 patients, while the emergency clinic treated 96 cases, and the internal medicine clinic provided consultations and treatments to 65 patients. Four individuals benefited from the health awareness and education clinic. Additional services included 80 patient visits to the nursing services department, treatment and surgery for 10 patients in the surgery and dressing clinic, dispensing medications to 351 individuals, and conducting two safe medical waste disposal activities.

The general context and the humanitarian crisis in Yemen

This aid comes in the context of the humanitarian crisis that Yemen has been experiencing for years, which has led to a significant deterioration in all vital sectors, most notably the health sector. The conflict has caused the partial or complete collapse of many hospitals and health facilities, leaving millions of Yemenis, especially in remote and rural areas such as Hajjah Governorate, without access to even the most basic medical care. In this context, mobile clinics play a pivotal role in bridging this gap, reaching population centers that have difficulty accessing fixed health facilities and providing early detection and treatment services for common and epidemic diseases, maternal and child health care, and first aid.

The importance of the humanitarian role of the King Salman Relief Center

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, established in 2015, is the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s primary humanitarian arm, implementing hundreds of projects in dozens of countries worldwide. Yemen is a top priority for the Center’s programs due to the scale of the humanitarian need there. The Center’s efforts extend beyond direct medical support through mobile clinics to include extensive programs supporting hospitals with medicines and supplies, combating child malnutrition, providing clean water and sanitation, and rehabilitating vital infrastructure. These projects not only contribute to saving lives and alleviating suffering locally, but also enhance regional stability by addressing the humanitarian consequences of conflict and underscore the Kingdom’s leading role in international humanitarian work.
