The King Salman Relief Center distributed 947 winter clothing vouchers in Taiz as part of the Kanf 2026 project, targeting displaced people and needy families to cope with the harsh winter cold in Yemen.

As part of the ongoing humanitarian efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to support the brotherly Yemeni people, the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid to implement its quality relief programs, as the center distributed 947 shopping vouchers yesterday for winter clothing in Taiz Governorate.

The distribution targeted the Al-Aifou’a area of Al-Mawasit district in Taiz governorate, benefiting 947 individuals from displaced families and the most vulnerable groups in the host community. This initiative empowers beneficiaries to freely choose their winter clothing and heating supplies from approved stores, thus preserving their dignity and meeting their actual needs.

Project “Kanaf”: A proactive response to cold waves

This distribution is part of the 2026 Winter Clothing Distribution Project (Kanaf) in the Republic of Yemen, a vital project launched by the center in conjunction with the onset of winter. The project primarily aims to protect vulnerable groups from the harsh cold waves that strike the mountainous and highland regions of Yemen, which often exacerbate the suffering of those living in camps and substandard housing.

The voucher mechanism adopted by the center is based on giving the beneficiary the flexibility to choose what suits his family members in terms of sizes and types, instead of distributing ready-made parcels that may not suit everyone’s needs, which reflects an evolution in the humanitarian work mechanisms followed by the Kingdom.

The humanitarian situation in Taiz and the importance of intervention

This aid is doubly important in Taiz Governorate, which suffers from high population density and hosts large numbers of internally displaced people who have fled conflict zones. With the onset of winter, the health risks associated with the cold increase, especially among children and the elderly, making the provision of winter clothing a pressing necessity no less important than food and medicine.

UN reports indicate that thousands of families in Yemen lack adequate shelter and clothing to protect them from the cold weather, making the interventions of the King Salman Relief Center a lifeline for many, contributing to easing the economic burdens on families who have lost their sources of income due to the ongoing crisis.

The Kingdom's leading role in supporting Yemen

This initiative embodies the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's unwavering commitment, through its humanitarian arm, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, to stand with the Yemeni people in all circumstances. The Center's efforts extend beyond seasonal aid to encompass the health, food, shelter, and education sectors, in a comprehensive endeavor to improve living conditions and alleviate the severity of the humanitarian crisis in Yemen, while also reaffirming the deep fraternal ties that bind the two brotherly nations.
