The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through its humanitarian arm, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center , continued its tireless efforts to support the most vulnerable groups in affected areas around the world. In its latest initiative, the Center distributed 315 vouchers for winter clothing in the Khirbet al-Jouz area of Idlib Governorate in the Syrian Arab Republic.
This aid comes as part of the Winter Clothing Distribution Project (Kanaf) for 2026, in which 315 individuals from displaced families living in camps in that region benefited from this distribution, enabling them to choose winter clothes suitable for their personal and family needs through purchase vouchers, a method that preserves the dignity of the beneficiaries and gives them freedom of choice.
Winter suffering in northern Syria
This support is of paramount importance given the harsh geographical and climatic conditions faced by displaced people in Idlib Governorate and northwestern Syria. With the onset of winter, temperatures plummet to record lows, sometimes falling below freezing, exacerbating the suffering of thousands living in tents lacking even the most basic insulation or heating. This initiative is a vital proactive step to protect children, women, and the elderly from illnesses associated with the extreme cold.
The "Kanaf" project and its humanitarian goals
The "Kanaf" project is one of the unique projects implemented by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, aiming to bridge the significant gap in winter needs for refugee and displaced families. The project goes beyond simply distributing clothing; it represents a message of humanitarian solidarity, striving to provide warmth and security to families who have lost their homes and belongings due to ongoing crises.
The Kingdom's leading role in relief work
These efforts are an extension of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's long history of humanitarian work, as the Kingdom places the relief of the brotherly Syrian people among its top priorities. The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center operates according to professional mechanisms to ensure that aid reaches those who need it in difficult-to-reach areas, thus reaffirming the Kingdom's moral and humanitarian commitment to affected populations and its ongoing efforts to alleviate the suffering caused by disasters and humanitarian crises in the region and the world.
