The King Salman Relief Center continues its efforts in Yemen by distributing 2,150 food baskets in Hadramawt, contributing to alleviating the suffering of thousands of families and enhancing food security.

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center continued its tireless efforts to support the brotherly Yemeni people, distributing 2,150 complete food baskets in Hadramawt Governorate. These baskets targeted the most vulnerable families in remote areas as part of the Emergency Food Intervention Project in Yemen. The latest distribution covered the districts of Hajar al-Say'ar and Ramah, bringing the total number of beneficiaries from this campaign to over 15,000 individuals.

Specifically, the center distributed 650 food baskets in Hajar al-Say'ar district, benefiting 4,550 individuals, and 1,500 food baskets in Ramah district, benefiting 10,500 individuals. Each basket contains essential food items such as flour, rice, sugar, and oil—basic components designed to meet a family's nutritional needs for several weeks, thus helping to alleviate their financial burden.

The general context of the humanitarian crisis in Yemen

This aid comes amid the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Yemen, which the United Nations has described as one of the world's worst. The conflict has led to a sharp decline in the economy and the collapse of basic services, leaving millions of Yemenis dependent on humanitarian assistance for survival. While relatively stable compared to other regions, Hadramawt Governorate has been among the hardest hit by the economic crisis and has received a large influx of internally displaced people from conflict zones, further straining its limited resources.

The importance of aid and its expected impact

These relief interventions play a vital role in enhancing food security for beneficiary families, particularly in hard-to-reach areas. Locally, these food baskets help prevent malnutrition, especially among children and women, and provide families with a sense of stability and security. Regionally and internationally, these efforts reflect the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s leading humanitarian role and its unwavering commitment to supporting Yemen’s stability and alleviating human suffering. The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre, established in 2015, is the Kingdom’s primary humanitarian arm, having implemented hundreds of projects in Yemen across the food, health, water, shelter, and education sectors, underscoring the Kingdom’s approach of providing aid without discrimination.

This support comes as an extension of the ongoing relief and humanitarian efforts provided by the Kingdom through the Center to the Yemeni people in various governorates, with the aim of unifying and coordinating relief work and ensuring that aid reaches those who deserve it effectively and efficiently.
