The King Salman Relief Center distributed 4,750 cartons of dates in Mukalla and Al-Abr in Hadramawt, to support food security and alleviate the suffering of thousands of Yemeni families as part of its ongoing humanitarian efforts.

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center continued its tireless efforts to support the people of Yemen, distributing 4,750 cartons of dates in the Al-Mukalla and Al-Abr districts of Hadramawt Governorate as part of its food aid project for Yemen. Thousands of families in need benefited from this assistance, reflecting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's unwavering commitment to standing with the Yemeni people during their humanitarian crisis.

In detail, 2,200 cartons of dates were allocated to Al-Mukalla district, benefiting 13,200 of the most vulnerable individuals. An additional 2,550 cartons of dates were distributed in Al-Abr district, reaching 15,300 individuals, bringing the total number of beneficiaries across both campaigns to 28,500. This food aid aims to meet the basic needs of families, particularly given the difficult economic conditions the country is facing.

The general context of Saudi relief efforts in Yemen

This initiative comes as part of the leading humanitarian role played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through its humanitarian arm, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, which was established in May 2015 as an international center specializing in providing humanitarian and relief assistance. Since the outbreak of the crisis in Yemen, the center has intensified its operations to provide support in various vital sectors, including food security, health, water and sanitation, education, and shelter, with the aim of alleviating the humanitarian suffering of the brotherly Yemeni people.

The importance of aid and its expected impact

At the local level, this aid directly contributes to enhancing food security for beneficiary families in Hadramawt, where dates are a food rich in energy and essential nutrients, and hold special significance in the local culture. Providing these food baskets helps alleviate the financial burden on families, enabling them to direct their limited resources towards other essential needs.

At the regional and international levels, these ongoing efforts underscore the Kingdom's role as one of the largest international donors of humanitarian aid in Yemen and globally. These projects also reflect the Kingdom's commitment to supporting stability in the region and actively contributing to international efforts to end the humanitarian crisis in Yemen, in coordination with UN agencies and international and local humanitarian organizations to ensure that aid reaches those who need it efficiently and transparently.
