The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center continued its tireless efforts to support the brotherly Yemeni people, distributing 900 cartons of dates in Al-Sum District, Hadramawt Governorate. This food aid benefited 5,400 individuals, representing 900 of the most vulnerable families in the region, as part of the 2024 Dates Aid Distribution Project in the Republic of Yemen.
This initiative is part of an ongoing series of relief and humanitarian projects provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through its humanitarian arm, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, aimed at alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people. Since its establishment in 2015, under the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Center has consistently implemented hundreds of projects across various vital sectors, including food security, health, shelter, water and sanitation, and education, targeting all Yemeni governorates without discrimination.
This aid is of paramount importance given the humanitarian crisis that Yemen has been experiencing for years, which the United Nations has described as one of the worst in the world. The conflict has led to a sharp decline in living conditions and caused food insecurity for millions of people, making food aid a vital lifeline for many families, especially in remote and hard-to-reach areas.
The date distribution project is one of the center's important seasonal initiatives, given the high nutritional value of dates, which are a rich source of energy, vitamins, and minerals. Distributing dates contributes to enhancing food security for beneficiary families and providing an essential food item on their tables, particularly for vulnerable groups such as children, women, and the elderly.
Locally, this aid directly contributes to bridging the food gap for 900 families in Al-Sum district and strengthens the resilience of the local community in the face of difficult economic conditions. Regionally and internationally, these efforts underscore the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's leading role in humanitarian work and its unwavering commitment to standing with the Yemeni people, reflecting its responsiveness to international appeals for support to crisis-affected areas.
