The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia continued its leading role in global humanitarian work, as the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid its relief efforts by distributing various aid items, including food and winter clothing, in three Arab and African countries, targeting thousands of needy and displaced families, as part of the center’s operational plans for 2026.
Urgent food aid in Sudan
In response to the dire humanitarian situation in Sudan, the center distributed 1,000 food baskets targeting the most vulnerable families and internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Kosti locality, White Nile State. Approximately 6,467 individuals benefited from this aid, which is part of the "Sudan Support" project for 2026. This support is crucial given the economic and living conditions faced by the Sudanese people, as these baskets contribute to enhancing food security and alleviating the suffering of internally displaced persons.
Supporting families in Chad
On the African continent, Saudi Arabia's humanitarian efforts extended to the Republic of Chad, where the center distributed 720 food baskets in the Hadjer-Lamis region. These baskets benefited 720 of the most vulnerable families and were part of the 2026 in-kind assistance project. This aid is particularly important in Chad given the climatic and economic challenges facing the Sahel region, making external food support a vital factor in the stability of impoverished families.
The "Kanaf" project and facing winter in Yemen
In Yemen, the center continued its vital efforts to combat the harsh winter weather, distributing 1,682 vouchers allowing beneficiaries to choose suitable winter clothing from approved stores in Al-Mawasit District, Taiz Governorate. This distribution benefited 1,682 displaced persons and members of the host community, as part of the 2026 Winter Clothing Distribution Project (Kanaf).
This project comes as a result of the center’s awareness of the suffering of displaced people in camps and mountainous areas of Yemen during the winter, when there is a great need for heavy clothing and heating to protect children and the elderly from cold-related illnesses.
The context of the Kingdom's humanitarian role
