The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center continued its tireless efforts to support affected groups in the region, distributing 1,200 food baskets in the Rif Dimashq Governorate of Syria, benefiting 1,200 needy families. This initiative is part of the Saudi aid distribution project for the brotherly Syrian people, aimed at alleviating their humanitarian suffering and providing them with food security.
Background to the humanitarian crisis in Syria
This aid comes amid the ongoing and complex humanitarian crisis in Syria, now in its fourteenth year, which has left millions displaced and refugees, and created a dire economic situation that has exacerbated food insecurity for a large segment of the population. The Rif Dimashq governorate is among the areas most severely affected by the conflict, where families struggle to meet their basic daily needs amid soaring prices and scarce resources, making this food aid a lifeline for many.
Parallel efforts to support refugees in Lebanon
In parallel with its efforts inside Syria, the center's humanitarian reach extended to Lebanon, where it distributed 808 food baskets and 808 cartons of dates to Syrian and Palestinian refugees and the host community in Beirut. This distribution benefited 4,040 individuals, as part of two projects: the food aid distribution to support the most vulnerable families and the 2025 date distribution. This assistance is particularly important in Lebanon, which is facing severe economic and social crises, further straining its resources and its capacity to absorb large numbers of refugees.

Regional and international importance and influence
These initiatives highlight the pivotal role played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through its humanitarian arm, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre, in responding to humanitarian crises in the region and the world. Providing ongoing support not only helps bridge the food gap for affected families but also reflects a deep-rooted humanitarian commitment and a principle of solidarity with brotherly and friendly nations. Internationally, these projects enhance the Kingdom's image as a key player in global humanitarian action and underscore its approach of meeting the humanitarian needs of those affected, wherever they may be, without discrimination.
