The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through its humanitarian arm, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center , continues to solidify its leading role in alleviating the suffering of the brotherly Yemeni people through a range of development and relief projects targeting the most affected vital sectors. In its latest field operations, the Center intensified its activities in the governorates of Lahj and Taiz, focusing on the education and health sectors, which are the lifeblood and future of Yemen.
Supporting the educational process in Lahj
As part of its commitment to ensuring the continuity of education and combating school dropout rates, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center distributed 671 complete school bags to students at Al-Muhsinia School in Al-Hawta District, Lahj Governorate. This distribution is part of a broader project aimed at strengthening education in Al-Hawta and Tuban districts for the current academic year. This support extends beyond simply distributing school supplies; it also includes improving the learning environment and providing essential resources to ensure students and teachers have a conducive learning environment. This contributes to protecting an entire generation from the dangers of ignorance and lost educational opportunities due to difficult economic conditions.
A qualitative agreement to rehabilitate war victims in Taiz
On the health front, specifically regarding the wounded and injured, the center signed a joint cooperation agreement to implement the eighth phase of the project to operate the prosthetic limbs and rehabilitation center in Taiz Governorate. The agreement was signed by the Assistant General Supervisor of the Center for Operations and Programs, Engineer Ahmed bin Ali Al-Baiz, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the International Association for the Care of Victims of Wars and Disasters, Dr. Muawiya Mahmoud Harsouni.

This agreement aims to provide high-quality medical services to 8,050 beneficiaries, including physical rehabilitation services for people with disabilities, the manufacturing and fitting of various types of prosthetics, as well as physiotherapy and functional rehabilitation sessions. The agreement also includes an important clause related to localizing medical expertise by training Yemeni personnel and enhancing their professional skills to handle complex cases.
Humanitarian context and expected impact
These projects are of strategic importance given the historical context of the Yemeni crisis, where years of conflict have led to the deterioration of educational infrastructure and a surge in amputations due to landmines and clashes. Taiz is among the governorates most affected in this regard, making the prosthetic limb project a lifeline that restores hope, mobility, and productivity to the injured.
This continued support reflects the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s unwavering commitment to Yemen, not only through emergency food aid, but also through sustainable development projects aimed at building the Yemeni people and reintegrating those affected into society, thus contributing to strengthening long-term social and economic stability.
