A new aid convoy consisting of 20 trucks loaded with humanitarian assistance arrived today, Monday, in Al-Abr district of Hadramawt Governorate in Yemen. The convoy, provided by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center , is part of a series of land and air bridges launched by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to alleviate the humanitarian crisis facing the Yemeni people.
Caravan contents and target groups
Trucks crossing the Al-Wadi'ah border crossing carried large quantities of urgently needed essential supplies, including complete food baskets, dates, shelter kits, and tents for those affected and displaced. This aid is directly targeted at the most vulnerable families in the governorate and those displaced who have sought refuge in Hadramawt from conflict zones, aiming to provide them with a dignified life and secure their essential needs for shelter and food.
The humanitarian context and the importance of timing
This aid is of paramount importance given the critical juncture Yemen is facing, with UN reports indicating a continued worsening of food insecurity in several Yemeni governorates. Al-Abr district in Hadramawt is a strategic location and a gathering point for many displaced families, making the arrival of these supplies crucial in bolstering the resilience of the population and helping them cope with the harsh living conditions resulting from the economic crisis and the devaluation of the local currency.
The Kingdom's leading role in humanitarian work
This initiative builds upon Saudi Arabia’s long history of support for Yemen, where the Kingdom is a leading donor to humanitarian response plans. The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center’s role extends beyond food aid to include health, sanitation, education, and demining projects (MASAM), reflecting a comprehensive strategy aimed at transitioning from emergency relief to sustainable development.
A message of fraternal solidarity
These ongoing convoys carry a profound message of solidarity from the Kingdom, leadership and people, towards our brothers in Yemen, affirming Riyadh’s unwavering commitment to supporting humanitarian and economic stability in Yemen, and standing by the Yemeni citizen in all circumstances until the current crisis is overcome and the country recovers.
