Saudi Arabia is providing urgent humanitarian aid through the King Salman Relief Center, including food baskets and medical services in Sudan, Chad, Niger and Lebanon to support displaced people and those in need.

As part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s leading role in humanitarian and relief work worldwide, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center continued its intensive efforts to provide assistance to the most vulnerable groups in four Arab and African countries: Chad, Lebanon, Sudan, and Niger. These initiatives are part of the Kingdom’s steadfast strategy to support people affected by disasters and crises, and to alleviate the suffering of displaced persons and refugees, regardless of ethnicity or religion.

Food and health support in Chad

In Chad, the center focused its efforts on the Chari-Garmi region, distributing 800 cartons of dates and 800 hygiene kits for women. This project directly targeted 800 of the most vulnerable families, including people with disabilities, widows, and refugees. This aid is particularly important given the economic and climatic challenges facing the Sahel region of Africa, as these supplies contribute to food security and provide essential hygiene items for women, as part of broader projects aiming to distribute hundreds of tons of food and hygiene products.

Strengthening ambulance services in Lebanon

On the health front in Lebanon, the center continued its vital funding of the ambulance service of the "Subul al-Salam Social Association" in the Minieh region of northern Lebanon. In the past week alone, the service carried out 34 ambulance missions, transporting patients and the injured to and from hospitals. This support comes at a time when the Lebanese health sector is under immense pressure due to the economic crisis, making these free services a lifeline for both Syrian refugees and the Lebanese host community.

Relief for displaced people in Sudan and Niger

Amid the complex humanitarian situation in Sudan, the center distributed 2,513 food baskets in Kosti locality, White Nile State, benefiting 18,678 individuals from displaced and vulnerable families. White Nile State is a major gathering point for internally displaced persons fleeing conflict zones, making food provision a top priority to prevent the malnutrition crisis from worsening. This distribution was part of the "Madad" project, which focuses on supporting food security.

In parallel, aid was also extended to the Republic of Niger, where 803 food baskets were distributed in the village of Dandaji Makou in the city of Maradi, benefiting 5,621 individuals. This intervention aims to support internally displaced persons and refugees in a region suffering from regional instability and resource scarcity.

Regional and international impact

This simultaneous aid reflects the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's moral and humanitarian commitment to the international community. Since the establishment of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre, the Kingdom has become one of the world's largest donors of humanitarian assistance. The importance of these projects extends beyond simply providing food and medicine; it also contributes to strengthening social stability in beneficiary countries and reducing waves of illegal migration resulting from poverty and hunger, thus solidifying the Kingdom's position as a cornerstone of the international humanitarian system.
