The King Salman Relief Center is distributing urgent aid including tents in Sudan, food baskets in Afghanistan, and winter clothing in Yemen to support displaced people and those in need.

As part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s leading role in global humanitarian work, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center to extend a helping hand to those in need and those affected by crises around the world. These efforts come in response to the growing humanitarian challenges posed by conflicts and harsh climatic conditions in several brotherly and friendly nations, with the Center recently intensifying its relief activities in Sudan, Afghanistan, and Yemen.

Shelter support for displaced people in Sudan

As part of its efforts to respond to the complex humanitarian crisis in Sudan, the center distributed 750 tents and shelter kits in Sheikan locality, North Kordofan State, the day before yesterday. This aid benefited 4,320 individuals from displaced families who were forced to leave their homes due to the current security situation.

This aid is of paramount importance given the ongoing waves of internal displacement in Sudan, with North Kordofan State experiencing immense strain on basic services due to the influx of displaced people from conflict zones. The shelter distribution project aims to provide dignified housing and preserve the well-being of affected families, addressing the critical shelter gap recently highlighted in UN reports.

Enhancing food security in Afghanistan

In Asia, the center distributed 257 food baskets in Sar-e-Pul province, Afghanistan, benefiting 257 families comprising 1,542 individuals. The distribution targeted various vulnerable groups, including Afghan returnees, internally displaced persons, and orphans.

This support comes as part of the "Food Security and Emergency Project in Afghanistan 2026," which aims to alleviate the severe living crisis faced by the Afghan people as a result of economic challenges and recurring natural disasters. Through these programs, the Kingdom seeks to strengthen the resilience of local communities and provide essential food supplies to vulnerable groups to ensure their livelihood stability.

Winter clothing in Yemen

In Yemen, coinciding with the onset of winter and the drop in temperatures, the center distributed 2,780 shopping vouchers in the city district of Marib Governorate. These vouchers enable beneficiaries to purchase winter clothing according to their personal needs, and 2,780 displaced individuals benefited from them.

Marib Governorate is one of the most densely populated Yemeni governorates with internally displaced persons (IDPs), hosting hundreds of thousands of families living in camps that often lack adequate heating. This initiative is part of efforts to combat the severe cold wave, with the center focusing on protecting IDPs, especially children and the elderly, from cold-related illnesses. This reflects the Kingdom's comprehensive humanitarian vision in addressing the needs of its brothers and sisters in Yemen.

This simultaneous aid across three continents embodies the unwavering commitment of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through its humanitarian arm, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre, to alleviate human suffering wherever it may be, without discrimination, and to consolidate its position as one of the world’s largest donors of humanitarian aid.
