The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by its humanitarian arm, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center , continues to affirm its leading role in global humanitarian work, as the center implemented a series of simultaneous relief operations in 8 countries that included the sectors of food security, health, shelter, and winter response, targeting the most needy groups and displaced people in the continents of Asia and Africa.
The context of the Saudi humanitarian role
Since its establishment in 2015 under the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, the center has become a unified umbrella for Saudi foreign aid, operating according to international standards to provide support without discrimination. These recent initiatives are part of the Kingdom’s strategy to promote stability in areas affected by conflict and natural disasters, reflecting Riyadh’s commitment to supporting vulnerable communities and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals globally.
Supporting food security in Afghanistan, Sudan and Niger
As part of its efforts to combat hunger, the center distributed 481 food baskets in Maimana, the capital of Faryab province in Afghanistan , benefiting 2,886 returnees, internally displaced persons, and orphans, as part of its 2026 plan. Simultaneously, in North Kordofan state in Sudan, 1,000 food baskets were distributed, benefiting 6,625 internally displaced persons, under the “Madad” project. In West Africa, specifically in Niger , the center distributed 500 food baskets in Abla Tablabiri to support 3,500 refugees and members of the host community.
Quality projects in Chad and winter preparedness measures in Pakistan and Lebanon
In the Chadian capital N’Djamena, the center launched two vital projects in the presence of government officials and diplomats. These projects include the distribution of 800 tons of dates and the provision of 13,500 personal care kits for women. It is expected that more than 678,000 individuals will benefit from these initiatives, thus enhancing social and health security in Chad .
In response to the cold waves, the center continued its 2026 winter relief project, distributing 1,000 winter kits in cold and flood-affected areas of Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces in Pakistan , benefiting more than 7,500 individuals. Aid also extended to Lebanon through the distribution of 569 vouchers for winter clothing in Sidon, Tripoli, Beirut, and Zahle, designated for orphans, refugees, and people with disabilities.
Intensive healthcare in Yemen and shelter in Syria
On the health front, clinics supported by the center in Yemen treatment to thousands of patients. In Hajjah Governorate, the Al-Ja'ada Health Center received 1,796 beneficiaries in a single week, offering services in emergency, internal medicine, pediatrics, and obstetrics and gynecology. In Al-Hudaydah Governorate, mobile clinics in Al-Khawkhah District provided services to 5,128 beneficiaries, supplying necessary medications and laboratory tests, thus contributing to curbing the spread of epidemics and supporting the struggling health system.
In Syria , the center focused on the shelter aspect by distributing 272 shelter kits in Aleppo Governorate, benefiting 272 families, to alleviate the suffering of those affected and provide basic necessities for living.
These ongoing efforts embody the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s firm commitment to standing by its brotherly and friendly peoples in times of hardship, translating the values of human solidarity into tangible projects that preserve human dignity and save lives.
