King Abdulaziz University organizes the American Dental Licensing Examinations (ADEX) with the participation of 25 doctors, in a step that enhances the quality of medical education and keeps pace with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

In a new academic achievement that confirms its prestigious position in the field of medical education, the Faculty of Dentistry at King Abdulaziz University organized the American License to Practice (ADEX) exams, in a strategic step to activate the college’s accreditation as an international center licensed to conduct these exams outside the United States of America, based on its prior acquisition of the prestigious academic accreditation from the (CODA) Authority.

This important scientific event, held under the auspices and support of the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties, saw the participation of 25 male and female interns and university graduates, who underwent a rigorous evaluation process according to the highest international standards. The examinations, which took place over four consecutive days, covered vital and specialized areas in dentistry, including prosthodontics, endodontics, periodontics, oral hygiene, and advanced technical simulation tests.

The importance of international accreditation and the global context

This step is of paramount importance to medical education in the Kingdom, as the ADEX exam is one of the most widely accepted and reliable clinical examinations in the United States and Jamaica, and a gold standard for measuring the clinical competence of dentists. The university's hosting of this exam reflects international confidence in the outcomes of Saudi education, as the university provides a simulation environment and medical equipment comparable to leading global centers. This facilitates graduates obtaining internationally recognized professional licenses without the need to travel abroad, representing a significant leap forward in localizing global standards.

Enhancing the quality of practice and aligning with Vision 2030

For his part, Dr. Mark Armstrong, President of ADEX, explained that the accreditation of the Faculty of Dentistry at King Abdulaziz University as a testing center represents an independent and neutral assessment tool for practical skills, stressing that this step contributes directly to raising the quality of professional practice and protecting society by ensuring the competence of health practitioners according to strict controls.

In the same vein, the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Dr. Abdulghani Mirah, indicated that this hosting reflects the university's firm commitment to international professional standards, praising the unlimited support from the university's senior administration and the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties' sponsorship of the program. He emphasized that this initiative provided graduates with a unique opportunity to undergo an international evaluation experience within the university, thus enhancing their readiness to pursue postgraduate studies and practice their profession with high professionalism.

These efforts are perfectly aligned with the objectives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, specifically the Human Capability Development Program, which seeks to enable citizens to compete globally and to improve the health and education services system so that the Kingdom becomes a leading model in the region and the world.
