In a move reflecting its unwavering commitment to promoting public health standards and ensuring food safety, the Jeddah Municipality released statistics on its inspection efforts for January. A total of 6,993 health certificates were issued and renewed for workers in food and healthcare establishments. Simultaneously, the municipality's laboratories department tested 7,448 food samples to ensure compliance with standards and their freedom from contaminants, as part of its ongoing field campaigns aimed at protecting the health of residents and visitors.
These efforts are part of the broader “Ejadah” program, a national initiative aimed at enhancing the efficiency of municipal operations and improving the quality of services provided to citizens and residents. The intensive inspection tours covered health and food establishments across 11 sub-municipalities, encompassing the entire governorate. The program focuses on increasing compliance rates with health and regulatory requirements, which directly impacts service quality and strengthens consumer confidence in the local market.
The strategic importance of Jeddah
These measures are doubly important given Jeddah's status as the gateway to the Two Holy Mosques and a vital commercial and tourist hub on the Red Sea coast. The city receives millions of visitors annually, including pilgrims, Umrah performers, tourists, and businesspeople, placing a significant responsibility on regulatory bodies to ensure the highest standards of food safety. Any negligence in this regard could negatively impact not only local public health but also the Kingdom's reputation as a safe and reliable destination regionally and internationally.
Digital transformation and its role in promoting compliance
The Jeddah Municipality affirms its commitment to continuing its field campaigns, while leveraging modern technologies to streamline procedures for business owners. The “Baladi” digital platform is a prime example of this approach, enabling employers to issue and print health certificates electronically without needing to visit the municipality headquarters. This is achieved through a direct technical link between employees' medical examination results and the Ministry of Health's platform, ensuring speed and data accuracy. This contributes to a comprehensive digital transformation aligned with the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which prioritizes improving quality of life and enhancing the efficiency of government services.
These figures are not just routine statistics, but a clear indication of the proactive approach taken by the Jeddah Municipality to establish a strong health infrastructure, capable of keeping pace with the population growth and urban expansion that the city is witnessing, and ensuring a healthy and safe environment for all its residents and visitors.
