Intensive preparations are underway in Jeddah to celebrate the founding day
The city of Jeddah is preparing to celebrate Saudi Arabia's National Day with a series of special national events. Cameras have captured the ongoing preparations at Prince Majid Park, the city's largest park, which is being transformed into a massive celebration center. The park is ready to welcome thousands of visitors with a comprehensive program that blends historical heritage with family-friendly entertainment, reflecting pride in the deep-rooted history of the Saudi state, which spans three centuries.
Historical background and significance of the founding day
Saudis celebrate National Day on February 22nd each year, a date that symbolizes the Kingdom's deep historical roots, commemorating the founding of the first Saudi state by Imam Muhammad bin Saud in 1727 in its capital, Diriyah. In 2022, a royal decree issued by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, declared this day an official holiday, aiming to strengthen national awareness of Saudi history and celebrate its long journey in establishing the foundations of security, stability, and national unity since its inception.
Diverse heritage and cultural events in Prince Majid Park
Prince Majid Park has been transformed into an open cultural and heritage space, evoking the rich history of the Kingdom through a variety of interactive activities. The park features dedicated areas showcasing purebred Arabian horses, symbolizing horsemanship and heritage, as well as a falconry exhibit embodying the values of pride and strength associated with the Kingdom's history. Areas have also been set aside for traditional crafts, such as palm frond weaving and henna painting, to highlight and introduce this cultural heritage to younger generations. On the cultural front, the park includes a visual exhibition narrating the history of the Saudi state and a photo booth themed around the occasion to capture celebratory moments.
A complete experience for family and child
The events also recognized the importance of children's participation, with a dedicated space featuring recreational activities, interactive programs, and souvenirs. These activities aimed to instill a sense of national pride in young people through engaging and innovative approaches, connecting them to their country's history. Mr. Majid Omar Al-Sulami, Director General of Community Service at the Jeddah Municipality, explained that the municipality was committed to developing a comprehensive program reflecting the historical significance of the occasion. He emphasized that all technical and operational resources were dedicated to implementing the events to the highest standards, ensuring Jeddah was presented in a celebratory manner befitting this major national event.
National and international impact of the celebrations
These celebrations aim to enhance the presence of national events in the social landscape and reaffirm the historical and cultural depth of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. These events align with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, which places great importance on culture and heritage as fundamental elements in building national identity and attracting tourism. By offering a comprehensive experience that blends knowledge and entertainment, these celebrations contribute to strengthening the Kingdom's positive image regionally and internationally, showcasing it as a nation that cherishes its past and confidently moves towards the future.
