Jeddah is preparing to host a major sporting event at the beginning of February 2026, with the launch of the second edition of the Jeddah Football Championship , which will take place in the middle of Sha'ban, corresponding to February 2, 2026. This exceptional edition comes under the generous patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of Makkah Region, and under the direct supervision of His Highness Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Jalawi, Governor of Jeddah, and is organized by the Ministry of Sports office in the governorate.

The draw ceremony took place on Tuesday evening at the conference hall of Al-Inma Stadium in King Abdullah Sports City, in the presence of the Director of the Ministry of Sports branch in the Makkah region, Abdulaziz bin Aboud, amidst a remarkable media and sports presence, as the draw resulted in anticipated fiery confrontations between the participating teams.

The tournament features a wide participation of 24 teams, divided equally between government entities and amateur teams, thus fostering a spirit of community competition. The groups are as follows:

Government agencies groups:

  • Group One: Ministry of Sports – Civil Defense – Jeddah Education Department.
  • Group Two: National Guard – Jeddah Police – Royal Guard.
  • Group Three: Facilities Security – Security Patrols – Environmental Security.
  • Group Four: Border Guards – Diplomatic Security – Aramco.

Amateur team groups:

  • Group Five: BH – Legend – Ambition.
  • Group Six: Noor Academy – Salam University – Shabab Al-Ezz.
  • Group Seven: Al Fursan Stars – Al Taawon – Al Rasoukh.
  • Group Eight: Al-Arabi – Wydad – United.

The tournament is scheduled to run from February 2nd to March 3rd, 2026 (14 Sha'ban to 14 Ramadan 1447 AH). This timing is particularly significant, as the final rounds coincide with the nights of the holy month of Ramadan, a season that sees a surge in attendance at football matches in Saudi stadiums, especially in Jeddah, adding a unique and enthusiastic social dimension to the tournament.

The participation of major security and governmental bodies such as the National Guard, Aramco and the Ministry of Sports, along with amateur teams and prestigious academies such as “Noor Academy”, reflects the extent of institutional interest in supporting sports activities and creating a healthy competitive environment that brings together different segments of society in the Bride of the Red Sea.
