Jeddah Airports Company announced the adoption of its maximum operational plan for the 1447 AH Umrah season at King Abdulaziz International Airport, a proactive step aimed at ensuring an exceptional and seamless travel experience for millions of pilgrims arriving from around the world. The plan includes the mobilization of massive human and technological resources, with 870 service counters prepared and more than 10,000 employees working around the clock to serve the pilgrims.

General context and importance of Jeddah Airport

King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah is the main air gateway to the Two Holy Mosques, receiving the largest number of Hajj and Umrah pilgrims annually. These preparations are of particular importance as they come within the framework of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's ongoing efforts to serve those visiting the Holy Mosque. Historically, the Kingdom has given great attention to developing the infrastructure and logistical services related to Hajj and Umrah, and this operational plan is an extension of this long-standing legacy of service, incorporating the latest technologies and international standards to enhance performance efficiency.

Details of the operational plan for the Umrah season

The plan focuses on activating the full capacity of three main terminals: Terminal 1, the North Terminal, and the Hajj and Umrah Terminal Complex. To ensure smooth passenger flow and reduce waiting times, 407 check-in counters and 463 passport control counters have been installed. The logistics system has also been enhanced with 56 passenger boarding bridges for direct access to aircraft, 35 baggage carousels, and 81 advanced customs inspection devices to expedite arrival and departure procedures.

These efforts are directly aligned with the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which aims to increase the capacity to receive pilgrims to 30 million by 2030 and enhance the quality of services provided to them. Domestically, these seasons contribute to stimulating economic activity in the cities of Makkah and Jeddah and provide thousands of job opportunities. An integrated system of humanitarian and health services

The plan also addressed humanitarian and health aspects, with four specialized medical centers operating within the airport to provide immediate care, and three organized reception halls and 20 air-conditioned rest areas designated in the Hajj Terminal complex to ensure the comfort of pilgrims. Eng. Mazen Johar, CEO of Jeddah Airports Company, explained that the plan was implemented through a collaborative approach involving 27 governmental and operational entities, aiming to unify efforts and provide comprehensive services befitting the pilgrims from the moment of their arrival until their safe departure.
