New security arrest in Jazan
As part of the ongoing efforts of Saudi security forces to enforce the rule of law and protect the Kingdom's borders, the General Directorate of Mujahideen in the Jazan region announced the arrest of a Yemeni resident. This operation followed the detection of his involvement in transporting three individuals violating border security regulations, all of the same nationality, using his personal vehicle in an attempt to facilitate their illegal entry into the country.
The Mujahideen patrols apprehended the suspects and took initial legal action against them. Following standard procedures, the three violators were referred to the appropriate authorities to handle their case, while their transporter was handed over to the Public Prosecution for further investigation and application of the penalties stipulated by law.
General context: The Kingdom's efforts to secure its borders
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia places paramount importance on the security of its borders, particularly in southern regions like Jazan, which shares a long and complex border with Yemen. Over the years, this region has faced significant security challenges due to the unstable situation across the border, leading to increased infiltration and smuggling attempts. To address these challenges, the Kingdom has launched large-scale security campaigns, such as the “A Nation Without Violators” campaign, which aims to track down violators of residency, labor, and border security regulations, and to rigorously enforce the law to ensure the stability and security of society. These security operations are an integral part of a comprehensive national strategy to maintain internal security and prevent transnational organized crime.
The importance of the process and its expected impact
This incident is particularly significant as it reflects the vigilance of the security services and their ability to thwart illegal activities that threaten national security. Locally, such seizures contribute to enhancing the sense of security among citizens and residents in the Jazan region. Nationally, they send a clear message to anyone contemplating facilitating or supporting border violations that the penalties will be severe and deterrent. The official spokesperson for the General Directorate of Mujahideen emphasized that anyone who contributes to facilitating the entry of border security violators into the Kingdom, transporting them within it, providing them with shelter, or offering any form of assistance, is subject to harsh penalties, including imprisonment for up to 15 years, a fine of up to one million Saudi riyals, confiscation of the vehicle and residence used in the crime, and public shaming. He affirmed that this crime is classified as a major offense warranting arrest and constituting a breach of honor and integrity.
A call for community cooperation
Security authorities reiterated their call for citizens and residents to cooperate and report any violations of residency, labor, and border security regulations. Reports can be made by calling 911 in the Makkah, Riyadh, and Eastern regions, or 999 and 996 in the rest of the Kingdom. They emphasized that all reports will be treated with complete confidentiality, as part of activating community partnership to maintain the security and stability of the nation.
