German coach Matthias Jäissle, manager of Al-Ahli's first football team, expressed his extreme displeasure and outrage following his team's loss to Al-Fateh, by a score of two goals to one, in the strong match that brought the two teams together as part of the eleventh round of the Saudi Professional League, which was held at Al-Fateh Club's stadium in Al-Ahsa.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Jääsle subtly criticized the referee's decisions, asserting that some of the calls had a significant impact on the game. The German coach said, "Of course, we hope to have a full squad and the injured players back; this is a natural desire for any coaching staff seeking stability. However, we are not making excuses. The truth is that we made individual errors that cost us dearly.".
Yassleh added, explaining his stance on the refereeing performance: "I wasn't happy with some of the refereeing decisions during the match. We discussed some of the incidents with the referee after the final whistle, and our dissatisfaction with those decisions, which we believe were incorrect, was clear." He continued, discussing the technical aspects of the game: "The result is truly harsh and painful for us and the fans. We weren't fully focused throughout the ninety minutes, while Al-Fateh, as a coaching staff and players, handled the match very intelligently. We can't afford to concede two goals so suddenly due to avoidable individual errors.".
The impact of the loss and Al-Ahly's position in the Roshan League
This loss places even more pressure on the young coach and the star-studded squad at Al-Ahli, especially given the high expectations of the club's passionate fans following their strong return to the Pro League and the club's international signings. Away matches, particularly against well-organized teams like Al-Fateh, are a true test of the team's resilience and its ability to compete for domestic titles.
It is worth noting that the Saudi Professional League has witnessed tremendous development and fierce competition in recent seasons, no longer limited to the top four clubs. Mid-table teams now possess the technical and human resources to challenge the giants, which explains the difficulty in predicting match results. The individual errors pointed out by Yasleh Hajslor are a concern for the coaching staff, as the team strives to close the points gap with the league leaders to secure a place in Asian competitions and compete for the league title.
The match ended with Al-Fateh winning 2-1, earning the "Model" three valuable points that strengthened its position in the standings, while Al-Ahli's points remained frozen, which requires Yassleh and his assistant staff to review the technical calculations and address the defensive errors before embarking on the upcoming rounds that do not allow for division in two.
