In a move reflecting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's ongoing commitment to the upkeep of mosques and providing the best possible services to worshippers, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance has awarded a comprehensive package of contracts for the maintenance and operation of mosques and prayer halls for the year 2025. The total value of these contracts exceeds 408 million riyals, covering the needs of 6,478 mosques and prayer halls across the Kingdom, with the aim of enhancing services provided to worshippers and ensuring their sustainability according to the highest quality standards.
Contract details and geographical scope
The contracting process included the signing of 31 operational contracts aimed at directly caring for thousands of mosques by providing integrated maintenance, cleaning, and operational services. The geographical scope of these contracts covered vast areas of the Kingdom, including Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, the Eastern Province, Asir, Jazan, Qassim, Najran, Al-Jawf, and the Northern Borders, in addition to several governorates within these regions, thus ensuring comprehensive coverage of the needs of mosques in both cities and villages.
Mosque care: A firmly established priority in the Kingdom's approach
This step is a continuation of the historical approach adopted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia since its founding, whereby the wise leadership places the construction and maintenance of mosques at the forefront of its priorities. This care is not limited to the Two Holy Mosques alone, but extends to all mosques in the Kingdom, stemming from the great status of the mosque in Islam as a beacon of knowledge and worship, and out of a keenness to provide the spiritual atmosphere befitting the sanctity of these places.
Keeping pace with the Kingdom's Vision 2030
This extensive contracting initiative aligns with the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, specifically within the Quality of Life and Pilgrim Services programs. Enhancing the efficiency of field services in mosques and improving their urban landscape directly contributes to enriching the experience of worshippers and visitors. Through these contracts, the Ministry aims to implement sustainability and efficient spending standards, while ensuring the continuity of cleaning and routine maintenance services throughout the year.
Improving the efficiency of operational services
The ministry affirmed that this step comes as part of its operational plans aimed at enhancing the technical readiness of mosques and improving their service environment to meet expectations. These contracts are expected to proactively address technical issues and provide a healthy and clean environment that enables worshippers to perform their prayers with tranquility and devotion, reflecting the positive image of services provided in the Kingdom.
