Local media reported on Sunday that 43 members of the Iranian security forces were killed in an attack targeting a border guard building in the west of the country. The incident occurred in the city of Mehran, near the Iraqi border, where the security headquarters was directly targeted, resulting in a large number of casualties among the personnel inside the building.
The Mehr News Agency reported details of the attack, stating that it was carried out using bombs, resulting in the deaths of 43 people, mostly border guards. The agency also indicated that the attack injured 21 others and caused significant material damage to buildings near the targeted headquarters.
In a separate military development, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) issued a statement on Sunday addressing the missiles launched by Iran targeting the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln. CENTCOM confirmed that the missiles did not hit the carrier, contradicting earlier claims by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps that the operation was a success.
CENTCOM clarified in a statement published on its X platform that the missiles launched did not even come close to the aircraft carrier. The Central Command described the announcement by the Revolutionary Guard, which claimed the carrier was hit by four missiles, as a “lie,” emphasizing that those claims were false.
