Ali Larijani announces the start of the transitional phase in Iran and the formation of a temporary leadership council that includes the president and the head of the judiciary, following the killing of Ali Khamenei in American-Israeli strikes.

The Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, Ali Larijani, announced that the transitional phase in the country would begin on Sunday, following confirmation of the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. This announcement was intended to clarify the political and constitutional arrangements that Tehran would undergo after the airstrikes that targeted the Supreme Leader's residence.

Larijani revealed the procedural steps for filling the leadership vacuum, explaining that a temporary leadership council would be formed as soon as possible. He confirmed that this council would assume all leadership responsibilities in the country until a new leader is elected. Larijani stated that the anticipated council would consist of three main pillars: the president, the head of the judiciary, and a jurist chosen by the Guardian Council. He emphasized that work to form this council was underway, beginning immediately.

Iranian state television officially announced the death of Ali Khamenei, stating that it resulted from a joint US-Israeli strike. Similarly, Iran's Supreme National Security Council confirmed that Khamenei was killed inside his residence, which was directly targeted.

In his first comment on the incident, former US President Donald Trump confirmed the death via his Truth Social platform. Trump asserted that Khamenei's killing represented justice not only for the Iranian people, but also for all Americans and people from various countries who, according to him, had been killed or maimed by Khamenei.

Regarding other casualties from the attack, Iranian media reported that several members of the Iranian Supreme Leader's family were killed. The reports indicated that the bombing killed Khamenei's daughter, his son-in-law, and his granddaughter, who were present at the site during the strikes.
