The Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Mr. Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef, conducted an extensive inspection visit today to Jazan City for Basic and Downstream Industries. He reviewed the progress of work at several vital industrial and logistical facilities within the city, which are managed and operated by the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu. His Excellency was accompanied on the tour by the Chairman of the Commission, Engineer Khalid Al-Salem, and together they were briefed on the operational processes and advanced services provided by the city to support industrial development in the Kingdom.
Strategic importance and prime geographical location
This visit is of particular importance given the strategic location of Jazan City for Basic and Downstream Industries, situated on the Red Sea coast, a vital artery for global trade, through which approximately 13% of international trade passes. This tour is part of the Kingdom's efforts to achieve the goals of Vision 2030, which aims to transform Saudi Arabia into a leading industrial power and a global logistics hub connecting three continents, while also maximizing the benefits of its geographic location to boost Saudi exports.
Advanced logistics gateway
Minister Al-Khorayef's tour included a visit to Jazan City Port for Basic and Downstream Industries, a strategic logistics gateway for the southern region and the Kingdom as a whole. He was briefed on the port's advanced infrastructure, including the container terminal, the maritime control center, and the modern technologies used in cargo handling. The port directly facilitates access for Saudi industrial exports to regional and global markets, particularly those in East Africa, Europe, and Asia.
Global leadership in the titanium industry
In the context of enhancing the added value of mineral resources, His Excellency the Minister of Industry visited the ASEC plant, a prominent industrial landmark as it houses the world's largest smelter for the production of primary titanium materials. He inspected the production lines, which operate at a massive capacity of up to 500,000 tons annually of titanium concentrates and 250,000 tons of high-purity sponge iron used in precision industries such as aircraft and aerospace manufacturing. This facility utilizes advanced industrial technologies to maximize operational efficiency, reflecting the significant development witnessed by the mining sector in the Kingdom.
Quality of life and investment environment
The visit concluded with a tour of Jadana Beach on the city's waterfront, a prime example of the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu's commitment to quality of life and the humanization of industrial cities. The beach serves as a recreational destination for city employees and residents of the surrounding area, enhancing the attractiveness of the investment and residential environment in Jazan City for Basic and Downstream Industries, and achieving a balance between industrial development and social well-being.
