In support of Vision 2030, the College of Applied Sciences at Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University honored academically and administratively distinguished individuals through the annual Excellence Award for Innovation Promotion.

In a move aimed at fostering a culture of excellence and innovation, the Dammam College of Applied Sciences, affiliated with Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University, celebrated a select group of its academically and administratively distinguished staff members during the annual Excellence Award ceremony. The ceremony was held in the presence of the college dean, Dr. Fatima Al-Rawajih, college leaders, and partners from the public and private sectors, to recognize the efforts that form the cornerstone of the educational development process.

National context: The award as a tool to achieve Saudi Vision 2030

This initiative comes within the context of the major transformations taking place in the education sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which are directly aligned with the goals of Vision 2030 and the Human Capital Development Program. The Vision seeks to build a prosperous, knowledge-based, and innovative economy, and investing in and developing human capital is the cornerstone of achieving this goal. By honoring innovators and high achievers in the academic environment, Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University is actively contributing to creating a stimulating work environment that encourages scientific research and continuous development, and produces national talent capable of competing globally.

The importance of the initiative and its expected impact

The impact of this award extends far beyond the mere recognition it bestows upon the winners. Locally, it elevates quality standards within the college, motivating its members to adopt best practices in teaching, research, and administration. It also strengthens the partnership between the university and the community, ensuring that educational outcomes align with labor market demands. Nationally, such initiatives serve as a model for other educational institutions, underscoring the importance of recognizing the unsung heroes—the administrators and technicians—who work tirelessly behind the scenes to support the educational process, thus reinforcing the understanding that excellence is the product of integrated teamwork.

Award categories: A comprehensive tribute to various aspects of giving

The award encompassed seven main categories covering all aspects of academic and administrative work, including tracks for excellence in academic career, teaching, scientific research, and innovation. The college also established the "Giving Award" to recognize outstanding contributions to community service, activities, and training. The award did not overlook the importance of administrative work, with a track for excellence in quality and development, another for outstanding administrative performance, as well as an award for a distinguished department and other recognition awards, reflecting a comprehensive vision of institutional excellence.

Investing in people for a sustainable future

The Dean of the College, Dr. Fatima Al-Rawajih, affirmed that the award represents the highest form of recognition for dedicated efforts, describing it as “a true investment in human capital and a necessary step towards achieving sustainable development and inspiring others.” For her part, the Vice Dean for Development, Dr. Mona Al-Ghamdi, indicated that the celebration aims to transform excellence from a mere slogan into a tangible practice, emphasizing that true quality is nurtured by professional ethics and the quiet efforts that make a real difference and have a real impact. The ceremony concluded with the honoring of the winners from various departments, educational and administrative bodies, and partner organizations that have effectively contributed to enriching the educational experience.
