Qoo Telecommunications Company announced the awarding of a project worth 43 million riyals with the Ministry of Health to develop the electronic health record in medical transport vehicles, within the framework of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

Etihad Go Telecommunications Company (Go), a leading telecommunications and information technology company in the Kingdom, announced a new milestone by winning a strategic project with the Saudi Ministry of Health, valued at a total of SAR 43 million, including VAT. This project represents a significant step in the Kingdom's ongoing digital transformation.

According to the official statement published by the company on the Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul), the project will span 44 months and focuses on developing and implementing an electronic health record system for use in Ministry of Health ambulances. This system aims to enable emergency medical teams to have immediate access to patients' vital data, thereby enhancing the speed and accuracy of response in emergency situations.

At the heart of the Kingdom's Vision 2030

This project is central to the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 and the Health Sector Transformation Program, which focuses on restructuring the sector into a comprehensive, efficient, and integrated healthcare system. Digital transformation and the automation of health services are fundamental pillars for achieving these goals, as technology contributes to raising the quality of healthcare, improving the patient experience, and increasing spending efficiency.

The importance and expected impact of the project

The project's greatest importance lies in its potential to revolutionize field medicine and emergency services. By providing a comprehensive electronic health record in ambulances, paramedics will be able to access a patient's medical history, medications, and any allergies, enabling faster and better treatment decisions before reaching the hospital. The project also ensures seamless information transfer between ambulance crews and hospital emergency departments, reducing wasted time and improving the chances of survival for critically ill patients.

At the national level, this public-private partnership strengthens strategic collaboration to achieve digital transformation goals and positions the Kingdom among the leading nations in digital health and smart emergency services. This project is expected to serve as a model for the region.

Qoo Communications clarified that the contract was awarded on January 28, 2024, noting that the project's financial impact will be determined and announced after all procedures are completed and the official contract is signed. The company affirmed its commitment to disclosing any material developments related to the project in due course, in accordance with the principles of transparency and disclosure.
