In a significant step aimed at enhancing the experience of pilgrims and providing them with the utmost comfort and peace of mind, the General Authority for the Care of the Two Holy Mosques announced the launch of “Children’s Hospitality Centers.” This comprehensive, free service operates around the clock to welcome the children of pilgrims and visitors during the holy month of Ramadan. This initiative allows parents to perform their rituals and acts of worship with devotion and tranquility, while being assured of the well-being of their children in a safe and stimulating environment.
Background of the initiative and the goals of Vision 2030
This service is part of a comprehensive system of development projects underway in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, aimed at improving the quality of services provided to pilgrims, in line with the objectives of Vision 2030 and the "Serving the Guests of God" program. Over the decades, the Two Holy Mosques have undergone massive historical expansions to accommodate the increasing numbers of Hajj and Umrah pilgrims. These expansions have not been limited to the physical structure alone, but have also included the development of humanitarian and social services. Providing childcare centers reflects a deep understanding of the needs of families with children, preventing them from being distracted from worship or exposed to the dangers of overcrowding.
Strategic locations and integrated services
To ensure easy access and benefit from the service, strategic locations were chosen for these centers within the Grand Mosque, specifically in the Third Saudi Expansion area, near Gates 100 and 104. These centers operate at full capacity 24 hours a day and cater to specific age groups to ensure appropriate care; they target boys from 18 months to 6 years old and girls from 18 months to 9 years old. The centers are supervised by specialized female staff qualified to work with children and meet their psychological and physical needs.
A purposeful educational and recreational environment
The centers' role extends beyond simply providing temporary accommodation; they offer purposeful educational and entertaining content. Equipped with a range of interactive games and engaging educational stories, the centers instill authentic Islamic values in children in an interesting way. The programs also include teaching children short chapters from the Holy Quran and Prophetic supplications in a simplified and appealing manner, along with workshops and activities designed to develop their creative skills and foster their spirit of innovation—all within a safe and professionally supported environment.
Positive impact on visitor experience
This initiative has a significant positive impact both locally and internationally. Locally, it serves citizens and residents who come to Mecca to perform Umrah. Internationally, it sends a message of the Kingdom's commitment to the well-being of visitors to the Two Holy Mosques from around the world, thus enhancing the Kingdom's positive image as a leading religious destination. Enabling parents to dedicate themselves to worship enriches their spiritual experience, making it deeper and more impactful—the ultimate goal of all services provided at the Two Holy Mosques.
