The Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the official announcement of the launch of the second phase of the comprehensive peace plan in the Gaza Strip, which included the formation of the "Palestinian National Committee" to take over the administration of the Strip's affairs on a transitional and temporary basis, based on UN Security Council Resolution 2803. This welcome comes within the framework of the Kingdom's continued support for efforts aimed at ending the humanitarian suffering in Gaza and creating a sustainable political horizon.
The Ministry also welcomed US President Donald Trump’s announcement of the establishment of the “Peace Council,” commending the leading role played by the United States and its tireless efforts to end the ongoing war. The Ministry praised the declared commitment to the withdrawal of the Israeli army and the pledge to refrain from annexing any parts of the occupied West Bank, which is a fundamental pillar for preserving the prospects for lasting peace in the region. In this context, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs appreciated the intensive diplomatic efforts undertaken by international and regional mediators, particularly the State of Qatar, the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the Republic of Turkey.
The importance of the Palestinian National Committee and the unity of the land
In a related context, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed the paramount importance of supporting the work of the Palestinian National Interim Committee, enabling it to fulfill its crucial tasks in managing the daily lives of the Gaza Strip's residents, who have suffered the ravages of war. The Ministry affirmed that the Committee's success hinges on maintaining the close institutional and geographical ties between the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, and ensuring the unity of Palestinian territory. It also expressed its categorical rejection of any plans aimed at dividing the Gaza Strip or separating it from its Palestinian surroundings.
The humanitarian track and the prospect of a political solution
On the humanitarian front, the Ministry called for an immediate and permanent ceasefire and an end to all military violations. It also demanded the unconditional and unrestricted flow of humanitarian aid and relief to all areas of the Gaza Strip, and the swift implementation of early recovery and reconstruction programs to repair the war's destruction. The Ministry views these steps as essential prerequisites for the Palestinian National Authority to resume its full responsibilities in Gaza.
The ministry concluded its statement by emphasizing that the ultimate goal of these moves must be to end the Israeli occupation of all occupied Palestinian territories in Gaza and the West Bank, and to realize the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions, the Arab Peace Initiative proposed by the Kingdom, and the principle of a two-state solution that guarantees security and stability for all the peoples of the region.
