In a further demonstration of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's leading humanitarian role, and under the generous directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the conjoined Filipino twins, Olivia and Gianna, arrived in Riyadh with their parents. Their plane landed at King Khalid International Airport, where they were received by a specialized team who immediately transferred them to King Abdullah Specialist Children's Hospital at the Ministry of National Guard. There, they will undergo thorough examinations to determine the feasibility of separating them.
A distinguished record of medical and humanitarian achievements
This initiative falls under the umbrella of the Saudi Program for Separating Conjoined Twins, a landmark in the history of global medicine. Established in 1990, the program has since gained international renown for its proven track record of success, having studied over 135 cases from 25 countries worldwide and successfully performed more than 60 complex separation surgeries. The program is led by a highly skilled Saudi medical and surgical team, headed by His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabeeah, Advisor at the Royal Court and Supervisor General of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, who is considered one of the world's leading surgeons in this field.
Human dimensions that transcend borders
The program's significance extends beyond the medical aspect to encompass profound humanitarian dimensions. It offers new hope to families from around the world, regardless of their race or religion, covering all treatment, travel, and accommodation costs, reflecting the Kingdom's deeply rooted Islamic and humanitarian values. Dr. Al-Rabeeah emphasized that these initiatives embody the Kingdom's leading role as a force for good and peace, noting that the program has become a unique model of Saudi medical excellence, aligning with the goals of Vision 2030, which aims to elevate the healthcare sector to among the best globally.
International influence enhances the Kingdom's standing
Internationally, these operations enhance the Kingdom's standing as a leading medical center and a powerful force in soft diplomacy. Each successful case not only saves the lives of two children but also builds bridges of affection and friendship with their home countries. Hosting the Filipino twins underscores the deep-rooted relationship between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of the Philippines and demonstrates to the world the Kingdom's commitment to its global humanitarian responsibilities. For their part, the twins' parents, Olivia and Gianna, expressed their profound gratitude and indescribable appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince for this generous humanitarian gesture, praising the warm welcome and exceptional care they have received since their arrival in the Kingdom.
