Ethiopian culture shines in a global harmony initiative at Al-Suwaidi Park, where visitors enjoyed traditional coffee ceremonies and Masengu instrument playing as part of Riyadh Season events.

In an atmosphere brimming with authenticity and cultural diversity, the Saudi Ministry of Media continued to highlight Ethiopian culture , as part of the "Global Harmony 2" initiative, which is organized in strategic cooperation with the General Entertainment Authority and the Quality of Life Program in Al-Suwaidi Park, one of the most prominent destinations of this year's Riyadh Season.

A journey through history and music

The events drew a large audience from various nationalities, who enjoyed the folk melodies that reflect the depth of Ethiopia's artistic heritage. The Masinqo, a traditional single-stringed bowed instrument, was a prominent feature of the musical performances. It is considered an important cultural symbol of the Ethiopian highlands, long used to narrate stories and historical events across generations. The sounds of the Masinqo blended with the rhythms of drums and brass instruments, creating a vibrant tapestry of joy and celebration of life.

Coffee rituals... the aroma of Ethiopia in Riyadh

The experience wasn't limited to hearing; it engaged all the senses, with Ethiopian coffee taking center stage. Visitors learned about the "Jebena" ritual, the traditional method of preparing coffee, historically considered to be in Ethiopia. Attendees witnessed the meticulous preparation process, from washing the green beans and roasting them in front of guests to release their fragrant aroma, to grinding and serving them in an intimate atmosphere reflecting Ethiopian hospitality and the warm social bonds characteristic of the Horn of Africa.

Dimensions of the "Global Harmony" initiative

These events hold special significance that transcends mere entertainment; they align with the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which, through its Quality of Life Program, aims to foster coexistence and harmony among residents from diverse cultures and within Saudi society. The "Global Harmony" initiative serves as a vital platform to showcase the Kingdom's rich cultural diversity, strengthening human connections and opening avenues for intercultural dialogue.

The Ministry of Information is scheduled to conclude the Ethiopian Cultural Days events tomorrow, with the participation of a select group of artists and influencers, amid expectations of a large turnout to bid farewell to this cultural event that brought the magic of Addis Ababa to the heart of the Saudi capital.
