The Ministry of Information launched Ethiopian Cultural Days in Al-Suwaidi Park as part of the Global Harmony Initiative, amidst artistic and heritage performances that reflect the depth of cultural relations and the diversity of the Riyadh Season.

The Saudi Ministry of Media launched the "Ethiopian Cultural Days" events today as part of the second edition of the "Global Harmony" initiative, organized by the Ministry in strategic partnership with the General Entertainment Authority. These events are being held at Al-Suwaidi Park, one of the main destinations of Riyadh Season, and are attracting a significant audience of visitors and residents from various nationalities, reflecting the cultural diversity that the Kingdom embraces.

Festive atmosphere and rich heritage

The events kicked off at 4:00 PM, transforming the grounds of Al-Suwaidi Park into an open-air stage for authentic African arts. The participating Ethiopian groups opened the show with captivating dance performances to the beat of traditional drums, showcasing the ethnic and geographical diversity of Ethiopia. The audience enthusiastically responded to the energetic rhythms that reflect a cultural heritage spanning thousands of years.

The event featured approximately 50 performers and artists, along with a selection of prominent artists and influencers. Activities extended beyond dance and music to include cultural pavilions showcasing intricate handicrafts, paintings, and richly colored traditional costumes reflecting the diverse identities of Ethiopian tribes.

Context of the initiative and its strategic dimensions

The "Global Harmony" initiative is part of the Kingdom's efforts to enhance quality of life, a key objective of Vision 2030, which aims to transform Riyadh into a global destination open to diverse cultures. The initiative seeks to highlight the lives of residents in the Kingdom, showcase their cultural diversity, and promote social integration through shared entertainment and cultural events.

This event is of particular importance given the historical and cultural ties between the Arabian Peninsula and the Horn of Africa. The Ethiopian community is one of the largest and most active in the Kingdom, making these events a bridge for cultural exchange and an opportunity to showcase both shared and distinct customs and traditions.

A complete cultural experience: from coffee to theater

Visitors were immersed in the renowned Ethiopian hospitality traditions, most notably the coffee-making ceremony (known as "jebena"), a symbol of generosity and welcoming guests in Ethiopian culture. Ethiopian residents delighted in sharing their heritage with Saudi and international visitors, performing traditional dances in a warm and joyful atmosphere.

In the evening, the audience's enthusiasm soared as the main stage performances began, with artists presenting a selection of popular national and folk songs. The Ethiopian Cultural Days are scheduled to continue for three days, featuring a rich program that includes new musical performances, traditional displays, and interactive exhibits allowing visitors to explore the historical depth of Ethiopian civilization and its contemporary development.
