The Third Riyadh Health Cluster announced the completion of the relocation of the Erada Complex for Mental Health to its new, strategic location at Exit 18 on Al-Nahda Road in Riyadh. This significant step aims to enhance the quality of healthcare services provided and facilitate access for beneficiaries. The complex commenced full operations at its new location on February 13th, with its emergency departments receiving urgent cases 24/7.
Background and development of mental health services in the Kingdom
This transition comes within the context of the comprehensive development witnessed by the healthcare sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in line with the goals of Vision 2030 , which places great emphasis on improving quality of life and enhancing healthcare. The Erada Complex, formerly known as Al Amal Hospital, is a cornerstone of the addiction treatment and mental health care system in Saudi Arabia. The name change from “Al Amal” (Hope) to “Erada” (Willpower) reflects a shift in the general approach to dealing with mental disorders and addiction, focusing on the patient's willpower and determination as an essential part of the recovery journey, thus contributing to breaking down the social stigma associated with mental illness.
World-class facilities and an integrated therapeutic environment
The new Erada Complex was designed according to the latest international standards for specialized healthcare facilities. It boasts state-of-the-art infrastructure and integrated diagnostic and treatment facilities, ensuring the provision of precise and comprehensive care. The new environment offers more efficient workspaces for medical and administrative staff, positively impacting the patient experience by reducing waiting times, increasing satisfaction, and providing a stimulating therapeutic environment conducive to recovery. The complex continues to offer its high-quality rehabilitation and prevention programs, remaining committed to its established approach of supporting those recovering from mental health issues and those benefiting from mental health services.
The importance of the new site and its expected impact
The new site is easily accessible, situated on a major thoroughfare, serving a larger segment of the population in Riyadh and surrounding areas. This relocation is expected to increase the complex's capacity and meet the growing demand for mental health and addiction treatment services. Locally, this project reinforces Riyadh's position as a leading center for specialized healthcare. Regionally, it sets a new standard for the quality of mental health facilities and could serve as a model for developing mental health services in other countries in the region.
Working hours and services
The emergency departments at the new headquarters operate 24 hours a day to receive emergency cases, while outpatient clinics and support services are open to visitors from Sunday to Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
