The Electrical Industries Company announces the signing of a framework agreement through its subsidiary in Belgium with the French company Indes to supply power transformers worth 150.4 million riyals and extending for 5 years.

In a move reflecting the growing capabilities of Saudi companies in global markets, the Saudi Electric Industries Company announced a new qualitative achievement represented by the signing of an important framework agreement between one of its subsidiaries, the Belgian-based company “Bowles Transformers”, and “Enedis”, the main operator of the electricity distribution network in France.

In an official statement published on the Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul) website, the company clarified that the base value of the contract is approximately SAR 150.4 million. The scope of work under this agreement includes the design, manufacture, and supply of power transformers required for the French electricity distribution network, reflecting the high level of confidence in the quality of the subsidiary's products and its ability to meet stringent European standards.

Contract details and time periods

According to the statement, the basic contract term is five years, with an option to extend the agreement for an additional three years, potentially extending the collaboration until 2033. This long-term timeframe provides the company with supply stability and supports its long-term production plans.

If the optional extension options are activated, the company indicated that the total value of the contract could rise to approximately 227.3 million riyals, making it one of the most influential contracts in the subsidiary's European operations.

Financial impact and risk mitigation

Financially, the electrical industries company expects the positive financial impact of this contract to begin appearing in its financial results starting in 2027. It is worth noting that the contract included a crucial clause regarding price adjustments, a precautionary measure designed to protect the company from potential fluctuations in raw material costs in global markets, thus ensuring stable profit margins and reducing operational risks.

The context of strategic expansion in Europe

This contract confirms the success of the electrical industries company's strategy to expand into international markets, particularly the highly competitive European market with its stringent technical standards. The entire design and manufacturing process will be carried out at the Powles Transformers factory in Mechelen, Belgium.

This agreement is of particular importance given the client's position; Endes is responsible for managing 95% of the electricity distribution network in France, and plays a pivotal role in European energy transition plans and network modernization to accommodate renewable energy, making the partnership with it a gateway to promising future opportunities in the European energy sector.
