The General Authority for Real Estate announces the end of the deadline for property registration in the Al-Khafji and Hafr Al-Batin districts today. Learn about the included districts, penalties for delays, and the importance of registration.

The General Authority for Real Estate announced that Thursday, January 1, 2026, marks the deadline for registering real estate ownership in 13 neighborhoods across the Al-Khafji and Hafr Al-Batin governorates in the Eastern Province. This step is part of the Authority's comprehensive strategy to automate the real estate sector and document ownership according to the latest technological standards.

Neighborhoods included in the deadline

The authority clarified that the registration deadline today applies to 12 neighborhoods in Al-Khafji Governorate: Al-Shati, Al-Nuzha, Al-Fayha, Al-Rayyan, Al-Durra, the government offices, Al-Rawda, Al-Amal, King Fahd, Al-Nahda, Al-Khalidiyah, and East Andalus, in addition to Al-Rayyan neighborhood in Hafr Al-Batin Governorate. Property owners in these areas who have not yet registered their properties must promptly access the digital real estate registry platform to complete the process.

The importance of the land registry and the future of property ownership

The real estate registration system represents a significant leap forward in the history of real estate documentation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It aims to transform traditional title deeds into digitally authenticated title deeds. This system assigns each property a unique and unified "property number" and a deed containing precise geospatial data that specifies the property's location, description, and condition, in addition to documenting all rights, obligations, and transactions related to the property.

The strategic importance of this project lies in enhancing reliability in the real estate sector, as real estate registration deeds become an absolute legal argument in proving ownership, thus ending potential real estate disputes and increasing the sector’s attractiveness to local and foreign investment, in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 objectives to raise the efficiency and transparency of the real estate market.

Procedures and penalties

The General Authority for Real Estate urged property owners to take advantage of the remaining hours to register via the (rer.sa) platform to ensure continued access to real estate transaction services, including buying and selling. The Authority emphasized that failure to register within the announced timeframe will subject owners to financial penalties determined by a committee specializing in reviewing violations of the Real Estate Registration System. It also noted that registration applications will remain available even after the deadline, but the applicable procedures for late registration will be enforced.

It is worth noting that the National Company for Real Estate Registration Services (Real Estate Registry) is the entity responsible for implementing and operating the Real Estate Registry, using the latest technologies and geospatial data to build a unified national real estate database that contributes to the sustainability and empowerment of the sector.
