Border Guard efforts to enhance maritime safety
This operation comes as part of the ongoing efforts and constant vigilance of the General Directorate of Border Guards to protect lives and secure Saudi Arabia's coastlines. Search and rescue operations are a cornerstone of the Border Guards' work, especially in vital coastal areas like the Jazan region, whose extensive coastline attracts large numbers of visitors and water sports enthusiasts. Rescue teams utilize the latest boats and marine equipment, in addition to highly trained personnel capable of handling various emergencies in challenging marine environments.
Bish beaches... breathtaking nature that requires caution
Bish Governorate is considered one of the most important tourist destinations in the Jazan region, attracting many visitors to its beaches to enjoy nature, swimming, and fishing. Despite the beauty of these beaches, the marine environment can harbor strong currents or unexpectedly deep waters, requiring visitors to strictly adhere to designated swimming areas, which are regularly monitored to ensure they are safe. Experts consistently emphasize the importance of being aware of the area's characteristics before entering the sea, especially during periods of unstable weather that may affect wave activity.
Safety guidelines and unified emergency numbers
In a related context, the General Directorate of Border Guards reiterated its warnings to all beachgoers and marine enthusiasts to exercise caution. It emphasized the importance of adhering to maritime safety guidelines, which include not swimming in undesignated areas, avoiding swimming alone, constantly supervising children, and wearing life jackets when using marine vessels.
The Directorate also mentioned the emergency communication channels, calling on everyone not to hesitate to request assistance when needed or to report any emergency situation, by calling the unified number (911) in the Makkah, Riyadh and Eastern regions, or the number (994) designated for Border Guard emergencies in the rest of the Kingdom’s regions, including the Jazan region, to ensure a rapid response and save lives.
