As part of the ongoing and intensive security efforts undertaken by the Ministry of Interior and its various sectors to track down violators of regulations and protect the security of the homeland, the patrols of the General Directorate of Mujahideen in the Jazan region were able to arrest a Saudi citizen, after it was proven that he was involved in transporting a person who violated the border security system from the Yemeni nationality.
The citizen and the violator were detained and all initial regulatory procedures were taken against them. The violator was referred to the competent authority to complete the procedures related to his violation of the residence and borders system, while the citizen who transported the violator was referred to the Public Prosecution, considering that what he did is a crime that warrants strict legal accountability.
Deterrent penalties for crimes of transporting violators
In a related context, the official spokesperson for the General Directorate of Mujahideen reiterated the warning against the dangers of assisting border security violators, whether by transporting, harboring, or concealing them. He emphasized that the regulations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are strict in this regard, with penalties for anyone who facilitates the entry of violators or transports them within the Kingdom reaching up to 15 years imprisonment and a fine of up to one million Saudi riyals.
The penalties are not limited to imprisonment and fines, but also include confiscation of the vehicle used in the crime, confiscation of the residence used to shelter offenders, and public shaming of the perpetrator as a deterrent to others. The relevant authorities have classified these acts as major crimes warranting arrest and violating honor and integrity, reflecting the state's seriousness in addressing these cases.
The importance of adhering to the border security system
This security operation is part of the Kingdom's broader efforts to combat illegal immigration and regulate the labor market. The "A Nation Without Violators" campaigns and ongoing field operations aim to strengthen internal security and protect the national economy from the negative repercussions of undocumented workers and those violating regulations. Border control and preventing infiltration are fundamental pillars of the national security strategy, contributing to reduced crime rates and ensuring social stability.
The General Directorate of Mujahideen, along with the Border Guard and other security sectors, plays a pivotal role in protecting border areas and rugged roads, thus tightening the noose on smuggling and infiltration attempts, and affirming the rule of law throughout the Kingdom’s territory.
Official reporting channels
Security authorities urged all citizens and residents to cooperate with law enforcement by immediately reporting any suspected violations of residency, labor, and border security regulations. Reports can be submitted by calling 911 in the Makkah, Riyadh, Eastern Province, and Madinah regions, or 999 and 996 in the rest of the Kingdom. The authorities emphasized that all reports will be treated with complete confidentiality and that the reporter will not face any legal repercussions.
