The Iranian ambassador to Cyprus confirmed that the new Supreme Leader is Ayatollah Mojtaba KhameneiHe was injured in his legs, arm and hand in the US-Israeli strikes in which his father Ali Khamenei was killed on February 28.
Mojtaba Khamenei, 56, has not appeared in public since his election on Sunday as Supreme Leader, succeeding his father who was killed on the first day of the war in a bombing that targeted his residence.
Iranian Ambassador to Nicosia Ali Reza Salaran told the British newspaper The Guardian that Mojtaba “was also there and was injured during that bombing.”.
He added: “I heard he was injured in the legs, hand, and arm. I think he is in the hospital.” He added, “I don’t think he is in a condition to give a speech.”.
