Al-Nasr strengthens its lead in Roshan with a five-goal victory in the Gulf

Al-Nassr tightened their grip on the top spot after a resounding 5-0 victory over Al-Khaleej at Prince Mohammed bin Fahd Stadium in Dammam on Saturday, in a matchday 26 fixture of the Saudi Professional League (SPL). Abdullah Al-Hamdan (30'), Ayman Yahya (54'), Portuguese forward João Félix (73', 79'), and Brazilian Angelo Gabriel (90+1') scored the goals for Al-Nassr. Al-Nassr now have 67 points at the top of the table, while Al-Khaleej remain on 30 points and drop to eleventh place. Al-Nassr nearly opened the scoring just a minute into the first half, but João Félix's shot was saved by Luxembourg's Anthony Morais, and the rebound fell to Al-Nassr
Al-Nasr tightened its grip on the top spot, following its big 5-0 victory over its host Al-Khaleej, in the match that brought them together on Saturday, at Prince Mohammed bin Fahd Stadium in Dammam, as part of the 26th round competitions, “Science Day Round”, of the Saudi Roshan League.

Al-Nasr’s five goals were scored by Abdullah Al-Hamdan (30), Ayman Yahya (54), Portuguese Joao Felix (73 and 79), and Brazilian Angelo Gabriel (90+1).

Al-Nasr raised its tally to 67 points at the top of the standings, while Al-Khaleej remained at its previous tally of 30 points and dropped to eleventh place.

Al-Nassr almost scored a goal a minute into the first half, but a shot from Portuguese player João Félix was saved by Luxembourg's Anthony Moris, and the rebound fell to Abdulilah Al-Amri, whose powerful shot went over the crossbar (2). Al-Khaleej responded quickly when Greek player Giorgos Masouras fired a powerful shot that Brazilian goalkeeper Pinto saved and deflected for a corner (3). Al-Nassr continued their dominance and had another chance, but Félix's bicycle kick was brilliantly saved by Moris (20) before he fired a powerful shot that went just wide of the post (21). From a quick counter-attack, Al-Khaleej almost took the lead, but Norwegian player Joshua King's shot went just wide of the post (23). The post denied Al-Nassr a certain goal when it deflected Ayman Yahya's shot (24). From a cross that the defense failed to clear, Al-Nassr managed to score when Abdullah Al-Hamdan capitalized on the ball and played it to Moris's left (30). Al-Nassr searched for a second goal when Al-Hamdan fired a powerful shot that went just wide of the post (37). In the final minute of the first half, Al-Nassr missed a clear opportunity when Felix received a cross and played it into the goalkeeper's body.

Al-Khaleej launched an attack at the start of the second half, and had a chance to equalize, but Pinto made a brilliant save from Masouras' header, ending the danger (47). From a coordinated attack, Al-Nasr strengthened their lead with a second goal when Ayman Yahya followed up a rebound from the goalkeeper and sent a rocket into the goal (54). Yahya almost scored a third goal for his team, but for the brilliance of Maurice, who blocked the ball with his foot and turned it into a corner (56). Al-Nasr wasted another chance when Felix received a ball inside the penalty area and played it towards the goal, but Maurice made a brilliant save (67). From a coordinated attack, Al-Nasr managed to add a third goal when Felix followed up a ball set up for him by Al-Hamdan and played it into the goal (73). Felix returned to add his second goal and the fourth for his team when he received a ball inside the penalty area and shot it powerfully to the left of Maurice (79). In stoppage time, Al-Nasr deepened the gap when the Brazilian Angelo received a ball inside the penalty area and shot it powerfully to the right of Maurice.
