The board of directors of the local organizing committee for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia held its regular meeting in the capital, Riyadh, chaired by Yasser bin Hassan Al-Mishal, the chairman of the board, to discuss the latest developments related to the Kingdom’s hosting of the most prominent continental event.
The meeting included in-depth discussions on several vital organizational and technical matters that form the cornerstone of the Kingdom's preparations to host the tournament. Particular emphasis was placed on monitoring progress in the approved implementation programs, as well as reviewing the latest developments in ongoing coordination with the Asian Football Confederation and relevant governmental and private entities, to ensure seamless integration of roles and the smooth execution of preparatory processes.
In a related context, the Board of Directors reviewed detailed reports on the latest developments regarding the readiness of stadiums and sports facilities, including ongoing development and construction projects. Operational plans and related organizational aspects were also reviewed, with the Board emphasizing the need to implement all phases of preparation according to the highest international standards, in line with the prestigious position that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has attained as a global destination for hosting major sporting events.

This hosting comes as a culmination of the Kingdom's efforts under "Saudi Vision 2030," which prioritizes the sports sector with the aim of enhancing quality of life, contributing to the national economy, and transforming the Kingdom into a global sports hub connecting continents.
The meeting also addressed preparations for upcoming continental tournaments, which will serve as true tests of organizational capabilities. These include the 2026 AFC U-23 Championship, the 2026 AFC U-17 Championship, and the AFC Champions League final stages. Emphasis was placed on leveraging the accumulated experience gained from organizing these events to deliver a comprehensive fan experience that reflects Saudi Arabia's renowned hospitality and high level of organizational professionalism.
For his part, Yasser Al-Mishal affirmed that work is proceeding at an increasing and deliberate pace to ensure the delivery of exceptional editions of the upcoming tournaments, noting that these preparations represent an extension of the series of successes that the Kingdom has recently achieved in hosting international sporting events, which enhances its strong presence and leading position on the Asian and global football map, and leaves a sustainable legacy for future generations.
