Al Hilal Saudi Football Club announced in its annual report for the 2024-2025 season that it achieved record total revenues of SAR 1.27 billion, marking a significant milestone for the club and Saudi sports in general. This figure testifies to the rapid growth witnessed by the sports sector in the Kingdom, with revenues increasing by 17% compared to last season's revenues of SAR 1.09 billion.
Financial growth reflects sporting success
Growth wasn't limited to total revenues; it was also reflected in net profits, which reached SAR 37.8 million, a 13% increase compared to the previous season. This financial leap is attributed to several factors, most notably the rise in commercial revenues to SAR 505.97 million, driven by a 16.5% increase in sponsorship and partnership revenues. Media exposure revenue for sponsors also witnessed significant growth, reaching SAR 4.3 billion, compared to SAR 3.54 billion last year, reflecting the growing brand value of Al Hilal both locally and globally.
In the context of Vision 2030 and the sports transformation
These record-breaking figures come amidst the comprehensive transformation of the Saudi sports sector, a cornerstone of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030. In 2023, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman launched the sports club investment and privatization project, which saw the transfer of ownership of major clubs, including Al-Hilal, to the Public Investment Fund (PIF). This project aims to increase the market value of the Saudi Professional League and position it among the top 10 leagues globally by attracting international stars and enhancing governance and financial efficiency within the clubs.
Global impact and future ambitions
In his statement, Steve Calzada, CEO of Al Hilal Club, indicated that the 2024-2025 season marked a "qualitative leap" in which Al Hilal solidified its position as a global sporting force. Calzada cited the team's exceptional performance in international tournaments such as the FIFA Club World Cup, emphasizing that these successes are writing indelible chapters in the history of football. These financial results not only enhance the club's ability to compete at the highest levels and attract top talent, but also contribute to raising the ranking of the Saudi League and attracting more global investments and partnerships, thus serving the strategic objectives of Saudi sports.
Unlimited support from gold members
The report also highlighted the vital role played by supporters in the club's journey. Prince Alwaleed bin Talal topped the list of gold members supporting the Al Hilal non-profit foundation for the 2024-2025 sports season, with a substantial donation of 213.55 million riyals. This figure reflects the level of loyalty and support the club enjoys from its leading figures and constitutes a significant source of funding for its financial stability and the realization of its future ambitions.
