Al-Fateh FC has officially responded to reports of their player Saeed Baatia's transfer to Al-Hilal during the winter transfer window. Learn more about the situation and the Saudi Pro League transfer market.

Amid the speculation surrounding the winter transfer window in the Saudi Professional League, Al-Fateh Club put an end to the rumors circulating about the future of its distinguished right-back, Saeed Ba’atia, categorically denying the existence of any official negotiations with Al-Hilal Club for the player’s transfer.

The official denial came from Mohammed Al-Dhaif, the media officer for Al-Fateh Club, who confirmed in a press statement to Al-Midan Al-Riyadi that all rumors about an agreement or even preliminary talks to sell Baatia's contract to Al-Hilal Club are completely unfounded. Al-Dhaif clarified, saying: "There are absolutely no negotiations taking place at this time from Al-Hilal Club to sign Saeed Baatia, and there is no truth to the existence of any agreement for his transfer to the club.".

General context: A heated transfer market

This debate comes at a time when the Saudi Professional League (SPL) is experiencing an active transfer window and fierce competition among the top clubs to strengthen their squads. Following the significant investment by the Public Investment Fund and the attraction of international stars, Saudi clubs, most notably Al-Hilal, are striving not only to bring in top-tier foreign players but also to retain and acquire outstanding local talent to ensure squad depth and competitiveness on all fronts.

The importance and impact of the potential deal

For Al Hilal, the league leaders aiming for a strong showing in the AFC Champions League, the right-back position is one of the areas that Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus is keen to strengthen with additional options. Saeed Baatia, 23, is considered one of the most promising Saudi talents in this position, possessing the ability to contribute both defensively and offensively, making him a logical target for top clubs. Completing such a deal would bolster Al Hilal's domestic strength and provide them with more tactical flexibility.

On the other hand, Baatia is a cornerstone of Al-Fateh's "model" squad. Retaining him is a top priority for the club's management, who aspire to a high league position and continue competing strongly in a league that has become more challenging than ever. Losing a player of Baatia's caliber mid-season could negatively impact the team's stability and future plans. Despite Al-Fateh's official denial, it appears the player will continue with his current club, at least until the end of the current season, leaving the door open for speculation during the upcoming summer transfer window.
