King Abdulaziz Equestrian Field in Riyadh, the Kingdom's premier destination for speed racing, witnessed fierce competition during the ninth week of the Riyadh Racing Season. Organized by the Jockey Club, these events took place over three consecutive days (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, December 11, 12, and 13, 2025), featuring 12 races each, bringing together elite Thoroughbred and Arabian horses in a thrilling battle for titles.

The White Stable shone in the National Guard Cup

In one of the week's most notable events, specifically during Friday's competitions, the White Stable of the sons of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz stole the show, with the promising horse "Al-Dharb" winning the Ministry of National Guard Cup. This well-deserved victory came in the third group of local races for two-year-old colts, where "Al-Dharb" delivered a remarkable performance reflecting the quality of its upbringing and training, enabling it to claim first place deservedly. Following the race, His Excellency Mr. Fahd Al-Shaya, Undersecretary of the Ministry of National Guard for Technical Affairs, presented the winning stable with the prestigious cup.

“Tahzim” wins the Board of Directors Cup

The excitement continued on Saturday with the Jockey Club Board Cup (Group 3 Local). The 2000-meter race featured some of the strongest names in the field, but the victory went to the horse “Tahzeem,” owned by His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdulaziz (Al Ahmar Stable). His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Abdullah bin Salman bin Mohammed Al Saud, Secretary General of the Jockey Club Board and Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, presented the winning stable with the trophy after a highly tactical race.

Outstanding results and speed distances

The excitement wasn't limited to the major cups; it also extended to the Jockey Club Cup, where Mr. Khaled Al-Ashri, Assistant CEO for Protocol and Ceremonial Affairs, presented the trophy to owner Ayed Sanat Sanitan Al-Shaibani. This followed his horse "Anhamar's" victory in the thrilling 1200-meter sprint, demonstrating exceptional speed capabilities.

Historical background and strategic importance

These races hold immense significance that transcends mere trophy wins; the King Abdulaziz Equestrian Field in Janadriyah is a world-class sporting venue that reflects the development of equestrian sports in Saudi Arabia. These local championships are part of the Kingdom's broader sporting movement under Vision 2030, which places particular emphasis on this traditional sport, aiming to elevate competitiveness and prepare horses and riders for major international events, most notably the world's most prestigious equestrian competition, the Saudi Cup.

These weekly championships also contribute to strengthening the horse industry in the Kingdom, and supporting local owners and trainers, which raises the market value of local production and puts the Kingdom on the global equestrian map as a major center of gravity in the Middle East.
