The markets in Al-Baha are witnessing increased purchasing activity as Ramadan approaches. The Ministry of Commerce is intensifying its inspection tours to ensure the availability of goods and price stability, and has recorded 49 violations.

With the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan, markets and shopping centers in the Al-Baha region, like other cities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, are witnessing a surge in commercial activity and a noticeable increase in consumer demand. This active purchasing is part of deeply rooted social customs in preparation for the blessed month, as families strive to secure all their needs for food, supplies, and Ramadan necessities.

The cultural and economic context of the Ramadan season

The month of Ramadan is an exceptional period, both religiously and socially, in the Kingdom, and this is clearly reflected in consumption patterns. Historically, there is a significant increase in demand for certain goods such as dates, dairy products, meat, Ramadan beverages, and sweets. This seasonal surge presents a real challenge for markets to ensure ample supply and stable supply chains, while also representing a significant economic opportunity for the retail sector and local merchants to boost their sales.

Intensive monitoring efforts to protect the consumer

In this context, the Ministry of Commerce branch in the Al-Baha region intensified its field inspection tours to ensure the smooth flow of commercial activity and protect consumer rights. The branch's Director of Inspection, Mr. Ahmed bin Ali Al-Ghamdi, explained that the inspection teams implemented a proactive action plan that included intensive tours of shopping centers, markets, and food establishments in various governorates of the region.

These efforts resulted in a total of 448 inspection visits during the past period, during which the availability of essential goods was verified, prices were monitored, and establishments were ensured to comply with consumer protection regulations, such as clearly displaying price tags and avoiding misleading offers. As a result of these inspections, 49 commercial violations were detected and dealt with according to the approved regulations and instructions, with the aim of preventing any practices that could harm consumers or negatively affect market stability.

The importance of oversight in achieving market stability

These inspection campaigns are of paramount importance at the local level, as they not only address violations but also contribute to strengthening consumer confidence in the local market and ensuring a fair and regulated business environment. Furthermore, the continuation of these inspections during Ramadan underscores the government's commitment to preventing monopolies and unjustified price hikes, thus guaranteeing that shoppers' needs are met with reasonable prices and guaranteed quality.

Al-Ghamdi called on all consumers to be active partners in the monitoring process by promptly reporting any observations or commercial violations through the "Commercial Report" application or via the unified reporting center at 1900. This cooperation comes within the framework of a shared commitment to raising the level of compliance in the markets and enhancing transparency, serving the interests of all during this important season.
