In keeping with digital transformation, Baha Education Department invites schools to participate in “Artificial Intelligence Hour”
In a strategic move aimed at enhancing digital skills and deepening understanding of advanced technologies within the educational environment, the General Directorate of Education in the Al-Baha region has invited all schools in the region, at all levels, to actively participate in the “Artificial Intelligence Hour in Education” initiative. The Directorate clarified that participation in this unique initiative will remain open until March 5, 2026, providing ample opportunity for schools to effectively plan and implement their contributions.
National and global context: In line with Vision 2030 and global trends
This initiative comes within the context of the major transformations taking place in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, specifically within the framework of Vision 2030, which places human capital development and digital transformation at the heart of its objectives. The Vision seeks to build a knowledge-based economy, which requires equipping new generations with the skills necessary for the 21st century, foremost among them critical thinking, problem-solving, programming, and an understanding of the fundamentals of artificial intelligence. Globally, integrating artificial intelligence into education is no longer a luxury but a necessity to keep pace with rapid technological advancements, and this initiative is an extension of global trends aimed at disseminating digital literacy from an early age.
The importance of the initiative and its expected impact
The “AI Hour” initiative aims to have a tangible impact on the educational environment in the Al-Baha region by building a digitally literate generation capable of addressing future challenges. It is expected to raise awareness of emerging technologies and their practical applications, and encourage students to pursue careers in STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). Furthermore, it presents a valuable opportunity for teachers to develop their professional skills and integrate AI tools into their teaching methods, making the learning process more interactive and engaging for students, and fostering a culture of innovation and creativity within classrooms.
Diverse paths for active participation
To ensure the participation of all members of the school community, the administration has outlined multiple participation tracks, including: “Innovation Pioneers,” “Innovative Leaders,” “Innovative Teachers,” and “School of the Future.” This diversity allows schools to choose the track that aligns with their development plans and future vision, with a maximum time limit of 60 minutes for completing the required tasks, thus facilitating and streamlining the participation process. The administration confirmed that registration is available through the initiative's dedicated online platform, noting that this step enhances the integration of efforts to empower students and teachers with the tools of the digital age, serving the national aspirations for leadership in advanced technology fields.
