In a move reflecting the growing interest in protecting the digital space and enhancing technological awareness among younger generations, Al-Ahsa Governorate witnessed a significant event on Monday: the honoring of the winners of the “Cybersecurity Pioneers Competition.” The ceremony, held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Talal bin Badr, Governor of Al-Ahsa, was attended by prominent educational leaders and representatives of major national companies.
His Highness the Governor delegated Mr. Muath Al-Jaafari, Deputy Governor of Al-Ahsa, to honor the teams and schools that achieved the top positions, in the presence of the Director General of Education in Al-Ahsa Governorate, Mr. Tawashi bin Yousef Al-Kinani, along with a group of leaders from Saudi Aramco, representatives of government agencies, and owners of private and international schools.
Strengthening digital security is a national imperative
This competition comes at a time when Saudi Arabia is witnessing significant leaps in digital transformation as part of its Vision 2030 goals. Cybersecurity is a fundamental pillar for protecting national assets and critical infrastructure. These local initiatives in Al-Ahsa align with the Kingdom's overall direction, which has led to its advanced global rankings in the Global Cybersecurity Index, underscoring the importance of investing in young minds to be the first line of defense in the future.
During the ceremony, the Deputy Governor toured the accompanying exhibition, visiting the booths of the participating teams and schools. The exhibition featured innovative projects and initiatives presented by students, reflecting a high level of awareness of cybersecurity risks and how to address them, thus highlighting the success of the partnership between the education sector and supporting organizations.
Education and Aramco partnership: Integration of roles
In his address at the ceremony, the Deputy Governor of Al-Ahsa praised the significant support provided by His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Talal to the cybersecurity sector, emphasizing that this interest stems from a deep understanding of the impact of the digital world on society. Al-Jaafari stressed the pivotal role of educational institutions in instilling the principles of safe technology use, while also commending the effective strategic partnership with Saudi Aramco, which he described as a model of social responsibility and support for innovation.
For his part, the Director General of Education in Al-Ahsa, Mr. Tawashi Al-Kinani, emphasized that promoting cybersecurity awareness is no longer a luxury but a pressing necessity. He noted that the competition is an effective educational tool that motivates students to research and innovate, and deepens their understanding of contemporary digital challenges. The ceremony concluded with a visual presentation showcasing the competition's stages and its positive impact, followed by the recognition of the supporting entities and partners who contributed to the event's success.
