At least 30 police officers were killed in an armed attack targeting a security post in the Yamba area near the city of Fada N'Gourma in eastern Burkina Faso. The attackers seized some weapons, according to Burkinabe police on Monday. The police stated that the attackers arrived in large numbers on motorcycles and launched an assault that lasted approximately two hours before taking control of the police post. They reported that the attackers looted the security post, seizing some of the equipment and weapons stored there, before setting fire to the remaining items inside the base. The police explained that warnings had been issued repeatedly before the attack, but reinforcements did not arrive in time, noting that the attack occurred during a shift change
