It comes under the slogan “It’s important to know,” to promote a culture of prevention and raise the level of community preparedness to deal with climate fluctuations.
The directorate stressed the importance of staying away from open areas during thunderstorms, avoiding standing under trees or metal roofs, taking shelter inside buildings or vehicles, taking precautions when moving around or engaging in outdoor activities, and not ignoring warnings and instructions.
The General Directorate of Civil Defense called for following the safety guidelines and instructions announced through official media and social media sites, and contacting the numbers (911) in the regions of Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh and the Eastern Province, and (998) in the rest of the regions of the Kingdom to request assistance in emergency cases.
