Iranian Revolutionary Guard
After participating in the 1980s war against Iraq, Zolqadr served as Chief of the Joint Staff of the Revolutionary Guard for eight years, and then as Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Guard for another eight years.
In 2005, he was appointed Deputy Interior Minister for Security and Police in the government of then-President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, in a move seen as strengthening the Revolutionary Guard's influence in politics.
Since 2023, he has served as secretary of the Expediency Discernment Council, an influential body that plays an advisory and mediating role between the various power structures in Iran and the Supreme Leader.
